"Music, the one incorporeal entrance into the higher world of knowledge
which comprehends mankind but which mankind cannot comprehend." — Beethoven
The San Francisco Institute of Music offers a program of comprehensive music education. Located in the Presidio at the Bay School of San Francisco, talented and motivated students age 5 – 18 are invited to participate in our integrated curriculum of musicianship, harmony, music history, ensemble classes, and private lessons. Classes meet on Saturdays between September and May of each year. Students participating in our program must show at an early age the ability to work with purpose and focus. They will receive the training that will allow them to become masterful performers and composers.
SFIM accepts students on the basis of an interview and placement audition conducted by members of our faculty.
In January, 2009, SFIM will open an additional program at the Julia Morgan Center for the Arts in Berkeley. Program times and dates will be announced soon.
